Short Notice #8

Apologies this is a day late I have been very very busy developing a web series, Avengers, Writing a graphic novel, Avengers, overhauling the site, Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises trailer, Avengers, free comic book day,  and when I wasn't doing all of that I managed to find time to see Avengers. So yeah, it's been hectic.

This months story was originally planned for last month but I swapped it for the Childhood feud story. I wanted to do another script that had next to no dialogue. I'm not 100% that It's as good as it could be with a bit more dialogue. Illustration wise it should be fun as it covers each decade from the 50's to the 80's

Enjoy.

Short Notice #8: The Day The Music Died (download script here)

This story is about how the music and deaths of Buddy Holly, Elvis, and John Lennon affected three individuals in very different ways.

Feel free to leave comments or message me about this months script and I'll see you here again June 5th

Stay Awesome

All I ask is if you use the scripts, that I get sent a copy of the finished piece to post here on the site and of course that I get a writing credit when or where ever the work is used to showcase your work.

Short Notice #7

Six months ago I started this project and I'll be honest, I did not think I would keep it up past the first post. Yet here we are. And with it comes a logo which adds a little colour to each update. It also comes with a new script format, previously I was using the Dark Horse format but thought I 'd play around the format used by Image. After just this one script I actually prefer it so expect it next month as well.

Again I want to say a huge thank you for all the positive feedback and advice it genuinely means a lot to me. People have sent me pieces of art they've developed from the scripts but I keep forgetting to upload them I'll try and show them off in the next week or two.

This months script is actually based on two separate requests, one person asked for something they could quickly sketch out. While someone else asked for a sword fight. So without further ado...

Short Notice #7: Childhood Feuds (Download script here)

This story depicts a mighty blade clashing battle between two fierce warriors on a distant world. There can be only one!

As always feel free to message me or leave comments and I look forward to seeing you back here on May 5th.

Short Notice #6

I think it's worth mentioning that I both love and hate this month's script. I have obsessed over it, lost sleep over it and ruthlessly enjoyed beating it into submission. It's also worth mentioning this script contains references to extreme nudity. So consider yourself warned.

It started out as an idea playing around with meta-fiction, then I saw an old interview with Alan Moore talking about Intelligent erotica and somehow this story leaked out of my head onto the page. I really want someone to illustrate this probably more than any of the other scripts. But that could just be ego talking. Anyway I hope you enjoy.

Short Notice #6: Words Made Flesh (Download script here)

This story explores the power of words, or rather the perception of the power of words as a writer tries to conjure inspiration for his books.

As always feel free to message me or leave comments and I look forward to seeing you back here on April 5th.

Short Notice #5

Sweet zombie jesus! What a delay. Since last we spoke a laptop died, scripts lost, tears wept, a goat sacrificed, Cthulhu summoned, and a small child learnt the true meaning of Xmas. But everything is back to normal... For now.

As for this months script I have mixed feelings. I wanted to adapt something into a comic so I picked an Inuit story that I thought would fit five pages. Not sure I've done it justice, maybe it needs an artists touch.

Short Notice #5: Crow Brings The Sun (Download script here)

This is a piece of Inuit folklore about an eternal night and how sunlight came to the north.

See you on March 5th! (Cthulhu willing)

Stay awesome!

Short Notice #4

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hopefully you didn't wake up anywhere too strange on January 1st. Anyway, another month another script. I quite like this one it felt easier to write and may be my favorite story so far. As a heads up, this script probably requires more pictorial research than the previous scripts as it uses a few real world settings as well as historical locales. So yeah good luck.

I also want to say thanks to all the people who have emailed saying they like what I'm trying to do with Short Notice and have been kind enough to make suggestions and give great feedback. Enough chatter, the script!

Short notice #4: Jack (Download script here)

Spring heeled Jack, Victorian crime fighter extraordinaire must move fast to stop an unpredictable threat. But is there more (or less) to the story than he can see?

As always feel free to leave a comment or message me via the contact page. See you back here on February 5th.
